The instructions are for both a traditional sized graduation tassel or two mini tassels.

How to make a Graduation Tassel out of embroidery floss

  • Separate the embroidery floss, opening the middle so it is even on both sides.

Graduation Tassel

  • Feed the twist ties through the loops of the embroidery floss.
  • Fold the twist tie in half so the ends meet.
  • Twist the tie so to secure the embroidery floss.

DIY Mini Tassels

  • For the mini tassels, feed twist ties in at both ends and twist together to secure the embroidery floss.

  • Twist a gold twist tie around the embroidery floss about 1/4 inch from the end. This makes the head or knob.

  • For the two mini tassels, twist gold twist ties around the embroidery floss at both ends, about 1/4 inch from the end,  to make the head or knob

  • Feed the scissors inside the loops at the bottom of the tassel and cut to make the tassel.

  • For the mini tassels, cut the embroidery floss in half to create two tassels. The mini tassels are perfect to accent graduation decorations.
  • Trim the cut ends to even out the bottom of the tassel and fluff the strands.
