DIY Elsa’s Ice Castle from Disney Frozen

Sharing is caring!

Elsa's Ice Castle

This is a themed gift wrap design which would be a perfect holiday decoration as well as a unique gift box.

Since it has been below freezing almost every day this January, I thought it would be a perfect time to show how to make my version of Elsa’s Ice Castle, inspired by the movie Frozen. We have had a fair amount of snow this year so I took it as an opportunity to see how my Ice Castle would look in real ice and snow. The snow really brings the Ice Castle to life especially with the blue LED string lights.

Now it has been announced that there will be a Frozen 2 Movie! I will be making more of my Frozen Movie themed creations to celebrate the anticipation of the new movie!

My version of Elsa’s Ice Castle was created on a box with a lid so it can be used as a decoration, gift box, or storage container.

Here is a free downloadable pattern for my design.

Thank you so much! I used a white box that was 5-1/2 x 5-1/2 inches. I bought it from Michaels in the gift wrap area. I think it cost about $2.99. I would love to see your version when it is done!

    Hi Betty,

That is the exact pattern I made to create my design. You can cut it out as is. I used a white sturdy box that was 5-1/2 x 5-1/2 inches for that size pattern. I bought it from Michaels in the gift wrap area. Send me a picture if you make it…I would love to post it!

Hi, I love your design and would like to make one for our Christmas and Crafts event at the garden centre where we will have a Frozen themed area for crafts! Please can you tell me – Do I print the pattern out on A4 paper, how big was the sheet of foam board and how thick? I need to make sure a craft knife will cut through it.
    Many thanks,
    Kate

Hi Kate! Thank you for your comment. I love that you are using my design for your Frozen themed craft area! Print the pattern on a an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of paper and I used foam board I bought at the dollar store. It is about 1/4 inch thick. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions. I would love to see a picture of your craft area!

    Hi Gina,
Beautifully done! I have to create a large scale, outdoor scene for Elsa’s Castle. Any suggestions on how to enlarge this pattern to about 12 ft high?I plan to use cardboard, paint and weather seal it. It only has to be outside over night but it’s in the North East so we never know the weather!
    Thanks,
    Sheila
