It’s time to start planning for your Super Bowl 2026 Party! This upcycled centerpiece is my favorite $0 way to decorate for the big game! I love creating unique and interesting football-themed decorations using household items such as a DIY football vase centerpiece made from a recycled can. This football vase is so easy to make and would be perfect for a Super Bowl party. I am going to show two different ways to make a festive Super Bowl Centerpiece!

Reused Version: Use a brown grocery bag and paint for a $0 “recycled” look.

Scrapbook Paper Version: Use store-bought football-themed scrapbook paper

I wanted to make a quick and simple DIY football flower arrangement with a football vase and flowers that show favorite football team colors. It would also be fun to make two football vases with the colors for each of the teams playing in the Super Bowl!

Customize your DIY Football Vase with your team’s colors for the perfect Super Bowl party table!

I had football scrapbook paper and white ribbon from my football party favors gift bags. I thought it would be perfect to wrap the football textured paper around the can and accent it with white ribbon for the laces. I used artificial flowers in the football team’s colors and secured them inside the can with floral foam and hot glue.

Here is one of my DIY Football decoration TV segments at NBC Affiliate WBAL-TV where I showed how to make my DIY football vase flower arrangement.

Here are step-by-step instructions on how to make my DIY Football Vase.

How to Make a DIY Football Vase Floral Arrangement

Step 1 – Clean and dry a 28 oz empty can.

Step 2 – Press the two sides of the can opening together to create an oval shape.

Optional – Paint the inside and outside of the can with brown multi-surface craft paint and let dry.

Step 3 – Cut a piece of football scrapbook paper the length of the can and wide enough to wrap around the can.

Step 4 – Attach the football scrapbook paper with a hot glue gun.

Step 5 – Glue 1/2″  wide white ribbon around the top and bottom rim of the can with craft glue.

Step 6 – Create the laces of the football vase with 1/4″ white ribbon. Glue two strips of ribbon next to each other vertically on the front of the can.

Step 7 – Cut six 3/4″ pieces of the 1/4″ ribbon to make the laces. Glue them onto the long strips of ribbon as shown above.

Step 8 – Draw a black outline around the laces with a permanent marker.

Step 9 – Glue a piece of floral foam to the inside bottom of the can with a hot glue gun.

Step 10 – Arrange artificial flowers inside the can by inserting the stems into the craft foam. Hot glue can also be used on the ends of the flowers to secure them to the craft foam.
