Elegant Bird’s Nest Centerpiece
Embrace the beauty of Spring with this elegant bird’s nest centerpiece. I created this stylish design from items I found at the dollar store, plastic and real eggs. I filled the nest with specked eggs, hand-painted eggshells and brought it to life with lights. This decoration would be perfect for any springtime occasion even once Easter is over.
Materials
- Margarita Glass
- 2 Candlesticks
- 2 Styrofoam Eggs
- 2 Plastic Eggs
- Gold Accents
- Eggshells (washed and dried)
- Green and Brown Moss
- Decorative Bird
- Gold, Cream and Green Acrylic Paint
- Gold Spray Paint
- Hot Glue Gun
- LED Lights
Instructions
Clean and dry the margarita glass and spray paint gold.
Turn the candlesticks upside down and paint the center portion with cream acrylic paint. Apply three coats of paint.
Paint the top and bottom part of the glass with gold acrylic paint. Use about three coats to give it a gilded finish.
Spray paint the plastic eggs gold and decorate with gold accents.
Using white glue, (any white glue will work) paint the outside and inside of the eggshells and let dry. This will stabilize the shells and also prime them for the paint.
Paint the styrofoam eggs and the outside of the eggshells with the cream paint. Paint the inside of the eggshells with green paint. To add speckles to the eggs, dip a toothpick into the gold paint and add random spots and dots.
Glue green moss to base of the candle sticks and add a gold egg.
Fill the glass with brown moss, arranging it so it looks like a bird’s nest. Position the flower LED lights around the nest as shown.
Place the eggs into the nest. They can be glued in place with a hot glue gun.
Place the bird and a broken eggshell at the base of the nest as a baby bird hatched and left the nest.
