DIY Beach Decor Surf Shop

Sharing is caring!

I love the summertime and one of my favorite things to do is have a fun cookout or get together with friends. Here is one of my beach decor creations for either a beach-themed party or just for fun! I created this Surf Shop from household items and inexpensive things from the craft store. Since I have brought this on TV for many of my themed segments, I have many requests on how to make this so here it is. A very simple and inexpensive project that you can create with a few items.

Materials:

  • Shoe box lid
  • Cardboard
  • Brown and tan acrylic paint
  • Scrapbooking paper (beach wood and floral)
  • Raffia
  • Craft glue
  • Hot glue gun
  • Surf shop sign

Instructions:

Fold a piece of cardboard  and angle the top to look like a roof as shown above. Attach it to the shoe box lid with a hot glue gun.

Paint the shoe box lid with both tan and darker brown paint.

Glue scrapbooking paper the front of the surf shack.

Cut out surfboard shapes out of cardboard and cover them with scrapbooking paper. Glue raffia strands to the front of the surf shop roof.

Print out  a Surf Shop sign on decorative paper and glue on the a piece of cardboard. Cut the ends of the sign into V’s to make it look more beachy. Glue onto the roof with a hot glue gun. Line the box with an napkin and fill with cookies or your favorite treat!
