Materials to Make the Glowing Halloween DIY Ghosts

Here are the simple supplies you’ll need to bring your ghosts to life.

How to Make These DIY Glowing Ghosts Decorations

The 12-second video above is the fastest way to see the process, but here are the simple steps!

  1. Create the Magic Mixture: In a disposable cup, (I used a Jell-O cup) mix white glue, a splash of water just to make it a liquid form but not too much,  then add a little acrylic paint if you want to make a colored ghost!

  2. Form Your Ghost: Saturate a square of cheesecloth in your mixture, wringing out the excess. Drape the wet cloth over the Jell-O cup and arrange the folds into a ghostly shape. Let it dry completely until it’s hard (a few hours).

  3. Craft the Dapper Hat: Cut a circle and a long rectangle from your black felt. Glue the rectangle into a tube and trace the size of the tube,  cut  glue the tube to cover the opening on one side. Cut out a larger circle  and glue the tube onto the center of the felt circle to create your top hat.

  4. Add the Details: Glue your orange Halloween ribbon around the base of the hat . Cut out felt ovals for eyes and a mouth. Tip: to do the eye shine, use a hole puncher to cut out small circles out of craft foam!

  5. Bring it to Life!: Once the ghost is dry, remove it from the plastic form. Glue on the hat and facial features. Place it over an Dollar Tree LED tea light and watch it glow!
